HP Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M480f
macOS 12.0 Monterey

[NOTE: I am actually running Mac OS15 but - classic - HP doesn't suggest this option]

I just can't get a working driver download from HP for my LaserJet MFP M480f to make it play nicely with my MBP15 (M2 Pro running macOS 15.0.1).

This seems to be a very hopeless forum -- never previously had the experience of posting a problem on a user board and getting ZERO responses!!

Makes me think... am I the only one?

I still can't believe HP offer ZERO support unless the device is in warranty. I wouldn't mind if they kept their **bleep** software up to date...

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Quick question because not clear from post. Have you tried downloading the Easy_Start app and running it? Well aware that the drivers page does not show the OS15 option yet and that might be that they are still working on it, in a perfect world all vendors would be instantly prepared for other vendors updates but that is rarely the case.  The easy start app is listed under OS14 and as this app polls the internet for the latest software it might find a driver for you.

Hi - thank you for replying...

Yes. Tried EasyStart multiple times. I selected the most up to date OS and downloaded the drivers. Had mixed results: initially EasyStart pulled down a driver (at least) but it was a bit flaky, kept telling me my printer didn't have Bonjour selected (it does), managed to print sometimes but wasn't stable. Tried various tweaks to reinstall it. Failed / no improvement. There is another piece of software from HP (I don't remember the name but I think I got it from 123hp.com) which also claims to download drivers... but no luck there either. Somewhere in the midst of all these attempts, EasyStart started telling me "Could not find any suitable drivers" and redirected me to an HP driver site, but when I followed the link it gave me, there were no suitable drivers there either.

I have assumed that, since initially it DID find drivers but latterly it could not, maybe this was because I already had some drivers loaded from an early attempt so I've been through, properly uninstalled all HP apps, then manually removed all traces from the libraries, so in theory I'm back to zero and could try again but unless I am likely to get a better outcome, I am not sure I have the energy to try.

On one attempt (only!), I think having made progress via 123hp.com rather than EasyStart, it looked promising... Bonjour seemed to be identified correctly... the printer driver was available from the dropdown when I was installing it -- but then it produced an error (something like "failed to install printer").

Aaargh!!!

@Repairatrooper not sure if you saw my response. Really appreciate you coming back to be in the first instance... did my reply give you any more clues as to what I might try next?

I've also been given a link to download drivers from (https://apple.com/HP_Drivers.dmg) which I am yet to try so I don't know if it's just another link taking me inexorably back to EasyStart or whether it's a new line of inquiry.

Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
