Hi @Patti-M

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Windows 8 drivers for the HP Envy 6555e are not officially listed, but you can install the printer using the HP Universal Print Driver or attempt compatibility mode with the Windows 10 driver package.

Step-by-Step: Install HP Envy 6555e on Windows 8

1. Download the Full Software Package

Visit the official HP support page:
HP Envy 6555e Drivers and Software

Select Windows 10 as the operating system.

Download the Full Software Solution.

Windows 8 is not listed, but the Windows 10 package may install successfully using compatibility mode.

2. Install Using Compatibility Mode

  1. Right-click the downloaded installer file.
  2. Select Properties > Compatibility tab.
  3. Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and choose Windows 8.
  4. Click Apply, then OK.
  5. Double-click the installer to begin setup.

3. Use HP App for Basic Printing and Scanning

  • Download the HP App from the Microsoft Store (if available on your version of Windows 8).
  • Open the app and add your HP Envy 6555e.
  • Use the app to print documents and scan files.

4. Alternative: Use HP Universal Print Driver

  • Visit: HP Universal Print Driver
  • Download the PCL6 version.
  • During installation, select USB or Network Printer and manually choose your model.

This driver supports basic printing functions and may work if the full software fails.

Let me know how the installation responds or if you'd like help with scan setup or wireless configuration. You’ve done the right thing by checking compatibility—and I’ll help you get the most out of your printer.
