My old HP 6500 AIO printer network interface died the other day (both ethernet and wireless)
So I have two PC's on the network. One has Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, the other has Windows 10 Home and both
were printing to the OJ6500 before the network interface died on the 6500.
So removed the HP OJ6500 software on the Win7 ok. No issues. When I went to uninstall the 6500 on the Win10
PC I got some message that it couldn't find the 6500. Well I had already unplugged it. So I hit ignore to complete the
removal.
Setup a new HP 8610 and downloaded latest drivers from HP. Software found 8610 on IP: 192.168.0.12;
Installed fine, prints fine.
Tried to do the same on the Win10 PC; Found it ok on 192.168.0.12 ok; Completed software install.
It won't print. Goes into spooler, disappears like it printed and doesn't print.
Ran PRINT and SCAN Doctor; Said if fixed the issues & run a test print; Nothing; Ran the other test print option
offered to see if it would send a diagnostic page. It does. Scanner works fine thru network. I can Use the HP ePrint
printer icon to print from this Win 10 PC. But cannot get it to print normally. I have purged the SPOOL folder, stopped and restarted the PRINT SPOOLER. I even updated the HP8610 firmware.
Anyone have a clue what I can do? I have uninstalled/reinstalled the Full Driver Package 3 times. Always the same result.

Hello, @SUPERPCC – Hope you are well 🙂
Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a dynamite location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others.
First off, appreciate your very detailed description of the issue 🙂 This looks an issue with the “printer permissions” in your Windows 10 PC. Try the steps below:
- Press the "Windows logo key" + "r" to get “Run" - Type "spool" and press ok.
- Right-click on "PRINTERS" - Select "Properties"
- Select "Security" tab. You will find few entries like "Administrators" and "users", click on "Edit" and give "Full permission" to all the entries. Save / apply the settings.
- Go to "Devices and printers", right-click on the new printer that you installed and select "Printer properties".
- Select "Security" tab. You will find few entries like "Administrators" and "users", click on "Edit" and give "Full permission" to all the entries. Save / apply the settings.
- Restart your computer and then try to print.
That should take care of the issue. But alternatively, you can also try installing the basic drivers instead of the full-feature version.
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL51190/bi-124097-4/OJ8610_Basicx64_198.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
- Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂

The second part of your suggestion worked. The first part failed.
When I typed PRINTUI.EXE /S, I saw the OJ6500 still in the drivers list.
Uninstalled two instances of them, did the reboot, did the FULL INSTALL again and all is good in Print Town.
Thanks!
