Hi @SageCreator

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Here’s how you can set up the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 scanner on your MacBook Air running macOS 10.14.6:

Prepare Your Mac

  • Confirm your macOS version is 10.14.6 (Mojave).
  • Ensure your Mac is connected to the internet.

Download the Software

  • Visit the official HP support page for the OfficeJet Pro 8710.
  • Select macOS Mojave (10.14) as your operating system.
  • Choose the HP Easy Start package. This installer includes the full driver and scanning software.

Install the Software

  • Open the downloaded file and follow the on‑screen instructions.
  • During installation, connect your printer either via USB or ensure it is on the same Wi‑Fi network as your Mac.
  • The installer will detect the printer and configure the scanner automatically.

Verify Scanner Access

  • On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 from the list.
  • Click Scan to test functionality.

Using the HP App

  • Once installed, launch the HP App from your Applications folder.
  • Use it to scan documents, manage settings, and check printer status.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • If the printer isn’t detected, restart both your Mac and the printer, then retry installation.
  • Ensure the printer firmware is up to date by checking through the printer’s control panel.
  • If scanning doesn’t start, remove and re‑add the printer in Printers & Scanners.

This process ensures your scanner is fully functional on macOS Mojave without needing additional tools.
