HP OfficeJet 5230 All-in-One Printer

Hello

Recently i have been unable to scan with my HP 5230 from my PC, it works from my phone. I have followed all the instructions from the troubleshoot, there is a message stating that all components of the device driver have not been loaded, pressing install takes me to the HP smart page however it locks up and goes no further.  I have managed to download an application file 'HPPSdr' the print and scan doctor, however when opening it finds the printer (connected via wifi)  then i have the message to fix scan and it directs me to the download page which starts to install the Smart App.  I have downloaded this which when opening recognises the existence of the printer.  If I then press the 'scan' button i am directed to sign in. when i do so i get this error message

If you continue to have issues setting up, contact HP Support.

(Error Code: OW_500_OWSID00001'
 
And that is where everything grinds to a halt.  
i have another app 'HP officejet 5200 series -HP Scan' on the homescreen, however when opening this nothing happens.
The printer worked perfectly until approximately 6 months ago, so no idea if it is an update issue or what, however the fact remains that i now have to scan all from my phone app as i can find no way , even after uninstalling and reinstalling all the printer software, to resolve this issue on the PC.
Clear guidance appreciated!!

To understand the issue and help you, please get back to me with the details listed below:

- Operating system (including revisions made with service packs, 32-bit or 64-bit, etc.)
- Connection method - USB, physical LAN, or wireless?
- Error messages - on the printer display and/or computer, any patterns for flashing lights.
