Hi @Angela1744,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Filter Failed" error message on an HP OfficeJet 5200 series printer typically indicates an issue with the printer's software or driver. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and fix this error.

Restart Your Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off your printer and computer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
  • Turn on the printer and computer.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or incompatible printer drivers can cause this error. Visit the HP official website or use the HP software on your computer to check for and install the latest driver updates for your printer.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Sometimes, third-party software or applications can interfere with the printer. Try disabling or uninstalling any unnecessary software that might be conflicting with your printer.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer and cancel any pending print jobs.
  • Restart both your printer and computer.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the printer software from your computer and then reinstall it. Follow the instructions provided by HP for your specific printer model.

Check for Paper Jams or Hardware Issues:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer that could be causing this error.
  • Ensure that the ink or toner cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink or toner.

Use a Different USB Cable or Connection:

  • If you're using a USB connection, try using a different USB cable or connecting the printer to a different USB port on your computer.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website and update it if necessary.

Reset the Printer:

  • Consult your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
