HI.

I use the printer since several months and I was able to print on both side in the past and now I cannot anymore. The option in the "print window" is not available anymore. Document in PDF or in Word can only be printed on one side.

I checked the printer preference and properties. the general Tab mentions in the Features section Double-sided: NO.

How can I fix this?

Thanks

Sabine

Hi @sabinejanssen,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 8014 printer's duplex (double-sided) printing option has been disabled or is no longer recognized by your computer. This issue can be caused by various factors, including driver problems, system updates, or changes in printer settings. Here are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

1. Restart Your Devices

  • Restart the printer and your computer. This can help resolve any temporary glitches that might be causing the issue.

2. Check the Printer Settings

  • Make sure the printer is correctly set to print duplex. Even though you mentioned the settings seem to have changed, it's worth checking directly on the printer's control panel (if available) to see if there's an option to enable duplex printing.

3. Update Printer Drivers

  • Update or reinstall printer drivers. Printer drivers can become corrupted or incompatible due to system updates. Visit the HP support website, find your printer model, and download the latest drivers.
    • Uninstall the current printer driver from your computer before installing the new one. You can do this through the 'Devices and Printers' section in your computer's Control Panel.

4. Set Printer as Default

  • Make sure your HP OfficeJet 8014 is set as the default printer. Sometimes, if it's not the default, settings might not appear correctly.

5. Check Printer Spooler Service

  • The Printer Spooler service on your computer manages print jobs. If there's an issue with this service, it could affect printing options.
    • Search for "Services" in your computer, and open the Services app.
    • Scroll down and find the "Print Spooler" service. Right-click it and select "Restart". If it's not running, select "Start".

6. Printer Preferences

  • Navigate to "Devices and Printers" in your Control Panel.
  • Right-click your printer and select "Printing Preferences".
  • Look for an option that says "Print on both sides" or "Duplex printing" and make sure it's enabled.

7. Printer Software

  • Some printers come with their own software or utility tools that manage printer settings. If your printer has such software, open it and check if there's an option to enable duplex printing from there.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Rachel571,

On my private laptop I was able to get back the double side printing simply by restarting the laptop but on my office laptop, a restart didn't help. I had to uninstall the printer and try to set it up again. I am now stuck on the step up, when I click on HP smart, I have a pop up that says there is something that went wrong and i need to come back later.

I cannot install anymore the printer on my laptop 😞
