HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 All-in-One Printer

Hello.

Suddenly my printer lost the date and I can't set it either via the panel or via the website. It loses time and sets it to the year 2000. Does the printer have a battery to keep the clock running?

Hi @adamno,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 printer does not typically have a user-replaceable battery to maintain date and time settings. Instead, it relies on a real-time clock (RTC) that is powered by the printer's internal power supply. If your printer is consistently losing the date and time settings and reverting to the year 2000, there could be a few potential causes and solutions.

  • Power Cycling: Try power cycling the printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source, waiting for about 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in and turning it on again. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
  • Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the official HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Updating the firmware can address software-related issues and improve overall performance.
  • Factory Reset: Consider performing a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings, including date and time, to their default values. Refer to your printer's user manual or contact HP support for instructions on how to perform a factory reset on your specific model.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: If the problem persists, there may be an issue with the printer's internal hardware, such as the real-time clock (RTC). In this case.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for reply.

I have removed the main board and it has a battery. The battery is empty and corroded and poured. I have changed it to new one but the problem is not solved.

Power cycling: done, no result.

The printer in up to date.

Factory reset: done by service menu (blue menu), no result.

I have bought another printer which not prints good. I will change main board and let's see.

I will come back with result.
