Microsoft Windows 11

To whom it may concern,

I migrated to Windows 11 for Windows 10.  After the migration, The Software for the HP Officejet Pro 6975 All-in-One quit functioning properly.

I would like to totally remove all software and drivers for the current printer, and reinstall everything. What do I need to do to accomplish this?

Thanks,

David M. Gettleman

Hi  @Dmgettleman

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that after upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11, your HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 software is no longer working as expected. Don't worry I'll be glad to help get everything running properly again.

To better understand the situation, could you kindly confirm a few details?

  • What exactly is not working after the upgrade?
    • Printer not detected?
    • Unable to print?
    • Unable to scan?
    • HP App not opening?
    • Driver installation errors?

In the meantime, you can try the following steps to perform a clean removal and reinstallation of the printer software:

Step 1: Remove the HP Printer from Windows

  1. Open Settings -Bluetooth & devices -Printers & scanners.
  2. Select the HP OfficeJet Pro 6975.
  3. Click Remove device.

Step 2: Uninstall HP Software

  1. Open Control Panel -Programs and Features.
  2. Uninstall all HP printer-related applications, including:
    • HP App
    • HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 Series Software
    • HP Update (if listed)
  3. Restart your computer.

Step 3: Install the Latest Software

  1. Download and install the latest HP application from the Microsoft Store.
  2. During setup, add the printer again and complete the installation.

Step 4: Check Windows 11 Updates

  1. Open Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Install all available updates.
  3. Restart the PC and test printing and scanning again.

Firmware Update (Recommended)

Since you are running Windows 11, HP has released a firmware package for the OfficeJet 6950/6960/Pro 6960/Pro 6970 printer series.

HP Officejet 6950/6960/Pro 6960/Pro 6970 All-in-One Printer Series Firmware Update

  • Version: 001.2626A
  • Release Date: July 22, 2026

You can download it here:

Download Firmware Update 001.2626A

Kindly ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the computer before running the firmware update.

I hope this helps.

No Menu available in "Start Up" to show Printer functions as there was before.

I can no longer fax through the software. I have to do it manually through printer display.

I still can print and scan. The printer is still set up in my printer list, and the scan option is pasted to my Taskbar.
