Hi,

My printer won't update, and the instructions about disabling anti-virus, manually setting an IP etc are beyond any non-IT expert.

Is there any simple way of updating the printer?

As per my previous post.  It is much easier to use a PC and the software assistant tool from HP. This sorted out this problem for me.

thanks, but what if one does not have a PC?

I'm sorry I do not know. I could not update the printer any other way. Perhaps you have access to a PC and do it that way? You should only need to allow access to your WiFi and then search for your printer.  Once updated you could delete your printer from the borrowed PC.

I have the same problem as all the other Mac users and cannot update the firmware.  I can access the EWS page, but still, when I click 'Check Now' next to 'check for printer updates', it just hangs.  There has got to be a solution other than 'borrow a PC.'  Come on HP!  I am never buying an HP printer again at this rate.

Hi,
I have the same problem with Ubuntu 22.04. The printer can't update itself and the update download remains at 0%!
I had HPlip which worked fine, but when I tried to update it, it uninstalled fine but the latest version refuses to install.
Access via the printer's web interface (Embedded Web Server) is functional. I was able to modify the DNS as indicated above, but it didn't change anything (wired ethernet connection to home router, IPv4 config: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
I also tried to "push" the update from this interface: the printer received the command and tried to download it, but also remained at 0%!
What should I do now?
Thanks in advance for your help...

I know almost nothing about Ubuntu so I can only suggest you follow the originally posted 'fix'.  Download the latest updated software via a PC or laptop and then force the reinstall process.

Hi Sh109b,

thank you for your answer, but Ubuntu is an OS based on Linux. So i AM on a PC, just with an another OS than W11. HP supplies HPlip for this OS, which is the application who allow to manage the printer. But the last update of this app has just delete the old version, but don't have terminate the installation of the latest one. And after multiple attempts, i decided not to continue.

My printer works very well and the local HP web server too.

So i'm just looking how to upgrade the printer to the last update.

Anyone with an idea or a/the solution ?

Thank you

[EDIT]

Hello,
finally, this morning, the printer managed to update itself! I don't understand it and I suppose it must be due to something HP did.
Anyway, it now works as expected.
Thanks again and have a nice day
