Printer has been in a loop of saying there is an update, trying to download, reporting the failure of the download and starting over. Enrolled in InstantInk, so can't change the auto-update feature. Can't seem to update over USB. Laptop says nothing is wrong with the printer and that it's up to date. But the printer keeps trying over and over again and reporting a failure every time. Did a factory reset of the printer and tried the update again before identifying the instant ink account, but it is still failing to download. Strong network connection and network printing seems to work fine. Just this update that keeps failing. Very frustrating.

Unable to find firmware update to download and try to install locally.
Current Firmware Version MALBECPP1N001.2314A.00
I have tried suggestions like removing DHCP and assigning a static IP, obvious power-down, reboots, etc. Update download fails whether initiated from printer control panel or from computer, HP Smart. Web services all list as okay.
HP - How about a solution that actually works, this appears to be a problem for many printer customers.

Hi @Buick8,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the automatic update for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 printer is failing every time, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the internet. A stable and active internet connection is essential for the automatic update process.
Printer Restart: Sometimes, a simple restart of the printer can resolve software update issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Manual Update: If automatic updates continue to fail, you can try manually updating your printer's firmware. Here are the general steps:
- Go to the HP Support website (support.hp.com).
- Enter your printer model (OfficeJet Pro 8035) and navigate to the "Software and Drivers" section.
- Download the latest firmware update for your printer model.
- Follow the provided instructions to manually update the firmware.
Network Configuration: Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device. If your printer is on a different network or has an unstable connection, it may not be able to receive updates.
Firewall and Security Software: Check if any firewall or security software on your computer is blocking the printer's access to HP's update servers. You may need to temporarily disable these programs while performing the update.
Update HP Smart App: If you are using the HP Smart app for managing your printer, make sure it is updated to the latest version. Outdated apps can sometimes cause issues with automatic updates.
Factory Reset (Last Resort): If none of the above steps work, you can consider performing a factory reset on your printer. This should be a last resort, as it will reset all settings on the printer to their defaults. Consult your printer's user manual or HP's support documentation for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

When entering the support site, must click on printers tile before entering the printer model. After which a popup shows up with the prompt that a critical firmware update is available, download and install now. Clicking on that just starts the same scenario of printer unable to download error.
There is no firmware update showing in the software and drivers section of the page. How about posting a direct link to download the firmware update so we can try that?
Thanks

Same issue here. There is a pop-up alert for a critical firmware update. The associated link downloads HPEasyStart_15_9_11.exe - anyone know if that is the software update required to make this daily software update failure go aware? Hesitant to try running this - probably will make things worse.

I don't get an associated link so I can't help you with that. Judging by the file name it would seem to be a setup program, no idea if it installs the firmware update. If you find something out please post the answer here.

I would caution everyone against the factory reset unless you have a cord to hook your printer up to your computer OR if you DON'T have Instant Ink. I thought a factory reset may help, so I tried that yesterday and after the reset, the printer says that you cannot use the instant ink cartridges until your verify your account, and then it makes you do a print alignment...which you can't do because you can't use the instant ink cartridges. It's absolutely ridiculous. Luckily, I have a cord, and connecting my computer to my printer allowed it to share the internet connection, and I verified my subscription. But that did NOT fix the issue.
So far, I have tried - unplugging my printer and restarting it, setting up my internet connection again, visiting the printer settings webpage and updating through there (gets hung up on downloading at 0% and never proceeds), updating on the printer (gets hung up on downloading at 0% and never proceeds), performing a factory reset AND a cold reset from the printer, and visiting the HP webpage for the printer and downloading the driver update from there (but that just forces me to download the HP Smart Mac app, which has no option to update inside).
My printer is just hung up on a download failed screen where I have the option to retry (which stays stuck on 0% downloading) or restart my printer. 5 minutes later, I'm back to the same thing. Clearly, this is an HP issue because others are experiencing the same problem. And it's not just exclusive to one operating system -- the original poster is on Windows, and I'm on a Mac.
It would be nice if HP would listen to the people who write in here and FIX the problem instead of giving us "troubleshooting" that doesn't even work.

All I can say is one thing. If everything is FUBAR and I have to buy another printer, it won't be an HP. I owned an HP laptop several years ago that there was so many problems with the motherboard and wifi chip connections virtually melting that I will also never buy another HP laptop. It seems HP is not interested in fixing anything if they can sell you a new one.
