I have a brand new Printer several days old.  I am having printing problems.  I send my document to the printer, I hear the printer processing the print job but, the job does not print.  I tried to print from a flash drive and it worked but, it will not print my computer documents.  Need help!

Hi @GJTs,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Printer Connection:

  • Verify that the printer is properly connected to your network if using Wi-Fi, or directly via USB if connected to the computer.
  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure that your computer is on the same network.

Default Printer Setting:

  • Make sure your HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e is set as the default printer. Navigate to "Devices and Printers" on your computer, right-click on the printer name, and select "Set as default printer."

Reboot Devices:

  • Restart your printer, computer, and router to resolve any network connectivity issues that might be causing the problem.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can download these from the HP Support website.
  • Uninstall and then reinstall the printer driver if necessary.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue and cancel all pending print jobs to clear any stuck jobs that might be causing the issue.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which is a tool designed to diagnose and fix printing and scanning problems automatically.

Firewall/Security Software:

  • Make sure that your firewall or security software is not blocking the print job. Temporarily disable it to see if printing resumes.

Test a Different File Type:

  • Sometimes, specific document types or formats can cause issues. Try printing a simple text document to see if it prints successfully.

Try a Direct USB Connection:

  • If you are printing wirelessly, try connecting the printer directly to the computer with a USB cable as a test to rule out wireless connectivity issues.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if the printer firmware is up-to-date, as sometimes new printers can benefit from firmware updates to resolve initial issues.

I hope this helps.

I want to thank Kuroi Kenshi for the instructions.  I followed the instructions, hopefully I downloaded the drivers needed.  I went through each step.  The printer shows a print job being printed but unfortunately, the print job did not come out.

This is the problem I'm constantly having and I don't know what to do to resolve it.

Hi @GJTs,

Thank you for the update, and I’m sorry to hear the issue still isn’t resolved even after trying those steps. Let’s try a few more focused troubleshooting actions to get your printer back on track:

Check for Paused or Offline Status

On your computer:

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Right-click on your printer > make sure “Use Printer Offline” is unchecked and that “Pause Printing” is unchecked.

Run HP Smart App Diagnostic

If you haven’t already, download and open the HP Smart App from HP’s official site.

Add your printer → click “Printer Settings” > “Advanced Settings” (EWS).

Look for any error logs or network status issues.

Then click “Print Quality Tools” and select “Clean Printhead” or “Print Test Page.”

Assign Manual IP Address

Sometimes a dynamic IP causes communication issues.

Open your printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS):

Type the printer’s IP (from the printer screen) into a browser.

Go to Network > Advanced Settings > IP Settings.

Change from DHCP to manual, and apply the current IP as static.

Uninstall Completely and Reinstall

Let’s clean up and reinstall from scratch:

Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program, and remove anything HP-related.

Restart your PC.

Go to https://support.hp.com and download the Full Feature Software for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e.

Reinstall using USB first (even if you plan to use Wi-Fi later); this ensures solid communication.

Test Printing via HP Print Anywhere or Mobile

Install the HP Smart App on your smartphone.

Try sending a print via your phone, if it works, then the issue lies with your PC software or drivers.

Reset the Printer (As a Last Resort)

If nothing else works:

On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.

Then set it up fresh using the HP Smart App.

You’ve done a great job troubleshooting so far, and we’ll get this sorted out together.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

I am replying to the instructions sent to me concerning my inability to print from my HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e series.  After following the instructions, and nothing worked, I moved to the instructions to "Try sending a print via your phone, if it works, then the issue lies with your PC software or drivers."  After I sent a document to the printer from my mobile phone, the document printed.  Your instructions stated that, if the above instructions work then the issue is with my PC software or drivers.

Question:  How do I check my PC's software and drivers?

Hi @GJTs,

Thank you for the detailed update, you’ve done a fantastic job troubleshooting so far! Since the document prints from your phone but not from your PC, you’re absolutely right,  this points to an issue with your PC’s software or drivers.

Let’s walk you through how to check and fix it:

Uninstall Old HP Software Completely

On your PC, go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program.

Uninstall all HP-related software (like HP Smart, HP OfficeJet software, etc.).

Restart your computer.

Reinstall the Full Driver Package

Visit: HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e Drivers

Enter your printer model: OfficeJet Pro 8130e.

Download the Full Feature Software and Drivers.

Install using USB cable first, even if you plan to switch to Wi-Fi later. This helps create a solid setup.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows Only)

Download it here: HP Print and Scan Doctor

Run it, it will automatically detect and fix common printing issues.

Follow any on-screen prompts to repair or reinstall drivers.

Check Default Printer

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Right-click your OfficeJet Pro 8130e, and select "Set as default printer."

Make sure it's not paused or set to "Use Printer Offline."

I hope this helps.
