Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the 8710.

After the most recent update, it does not scan and it prints like it is on meth (8 out of 10 print tasks okay, but blacks out and forgets about 2 of 10).

I can live with the Printing for now.

However, I would like to get the scanner to work.

I have used the doctor, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and HP total driver packages, I have downloaded the "Smart" app, nothing.

As far as scanning goes  -- nothing.

I used to have a HP printer icon that would go to the printer and let me scan, it was removed.

Going in through print requests usually lets me print.

I would like to go to a situation as similar as before.

There was an icon on my desk top, I clicked it and I had a choice to go to printer, scanner or even fax (in case I wish to visit 1992).

I understand this is common.

Do I now own a brick (from a scanning point?

Given I am an instant ink customer - this does not seem like a good strategy for HP.

There is a USB port on the bottom left side of the printer, you can insert a USB drive and scan directly without using a computer if you are in need to scan something before you find a fix for current issues.
