Maybe unrelated but up until yesterday when I lost power for a little while I could scan anything. Now when I try and scan from my pc it says Printer status unknown. Scanning is unavailable.

@rhalloran, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- Which application are you using to scan?
- Have you checked if you are able to print?
- Make sure the printer and the PC are connected.
Use the HP Scan Extended app to scan and check if that helps.
Click here to download the app.
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
