Hello, I have an issue with my printer, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series, running firmware MANHTNPP1N005.2129A.00.

I can print and connect remotely via IPv6, but IPv4 does not work. This is problematic because mobile devices cannot connect, and the online activation/registration of the printer no longer functions.

When I try to enable either "IPv4 only" or "Both IPv4 and IPv6", the setting automatically reverts to "IPv6 only".

I attempted to update the firmware:

  • Over the network, the update software seems not to support IPv6 and does not list the printer as an available device.

  • Via USB, I cannot check the required box before pressing Update.

I also tried all the restore options (Restore Factory Defaults, Restore Network Settings, and HP Secure Erase), but the problem persists.

Hi @Ludovic11,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer is having issues with IPv4 connectivity, here are some steps you can take to address this problem:

Check Network Configuration:

  • Ensure that your network setup supports IPv4 addressing and that it is enabled on your network router or switch.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Use a web browser to open the printer’s Embedded Web Server by entering the printer’s IP address (IPv6 in this case) into the address bar.
  • Navigate to the Networking tab to verify the current network configurations.

Manually Configure IPv4 Settings:

  • From the Embedded Web Server, go to the IPv4 Configuration section.
  • Attempt to manually set a static IPv4 address, along with the appropriate subnet mask and default gateway for your network. Check if this prevents settings from reverting.

Reset Network Settings:

  • On the printer, access the menu to reset network settings. Please ensure this is done when the printer is idle to avoid communication disruption.

Update Firmware:

  • Confirm that the printer’s firmware is up to date. Official HP® Support. If there are any updates available, apply them to resolve firmware bugs or connectivity issues.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello Jerry,

Thanks for the feedback but unfortunately I already tried all the proposed solutions. I'm guessing there is a bug caused by the current firmware, but I'm not able to update the firmware to the last version:

As you can see in the picture I can't update as the update status is not applicable.

Hello,

For the follow up, I installed the printer in a lab network with a dhcp server working only in IPv4, and the printer is working well... I can setup an IP in IPv4, I can switch the printer network mode to "IPv4 only" or "IPv4 and IPv6 " everything is working great.

So it's seems related to an issue when you have a DHCPv6 server on your network and the software version of the printer. To fix it, I may need to update the printer but firmware update doesn't work.

From what I read on different posts a regionalization reset may fix the locked firmware issue.

Best
