HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer

My HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 gets stuck in the loading screen after connecting it to power.
There is just the HP logo and a bar that starts in gray and fill in blue.
After filling nothing else happens. I waited several hours.
On/off button does not work. I disconnected the cable. Waited some hours. Connected again.
Same behaviour.
I read about a "hard reset" by taking out the ink cartridges. Nice idea, just does not work, as the cartridges are hidden and would not move to the service position.
My printer is 4 years old and out of warranty. Is it garbage now or is there any hope?
Any ideas?

Hi @gdoppler

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating that your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 is stuck on the loading screen. Here are some steps you can try to recover your printer:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Although you've tried disconnecting the power, here's a more specific hard reset method:

  • Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait: Leave it unplugged for at least 15-30 minutes to allow it to reset completely.
  • Press and Hold Power Button: While unplugged, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. This helps discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect: Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

2. Check for Paper Jams

Even if you can't see any obvious paper jams, sometimes small bits of paper can cause issues:

  • Open all access panels and carefully check for any stuck paper.

3. Try a Different Power Outlet

  • Plug the printer into a different wall outlet to rule out any issues with the current outlet.

4. Firmware Reset via HP Smart App

If you can access the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device:

  • Open the app and check if there’s an option to reset or troubleshoot the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Dear Rachel,
thank you for your reply.
I tried all 4 steps and nothing of this worked.

On another place I found a description of hard reset which included to take out the ink cartridges. Is there any way to get them out while the printer does not respond? Or when it is even disconnected from electricity?
Could it be that it just is a piece of garbage now? Inimaginable, is it?

Best regards,
Gerhard
