HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer

Hi.  My HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e is printing like a photograph not a document.  This started after I had to replace the SSD in a HP Victus laptop that is only two years old.  I reinstalled HP Smart but there doesn't seem to be settings there.  HP tech support wants to charge $19.99.  Hope someone has instructions that will correct this new malfunction...Thank you

Hi @divingosprey, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e is printing in a high-quality, photo-like mode instead of a standard document mode. This could be due to default print settings, driver issues, or an incorrect paper type selection. Try the following solutions:

Check Print Settings in Windows

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e and select Printing Preferences.
  3. Under the Paper/Quality or Advanced tab, check:
    • Print Quality: Change from "Best" or "Photo" to "Normal" or "Draft" for standard documents.
    • Paper Type: Ensure it is set to "Plain Paper" (not "Photo Paper").
    • Color Mode: If you don’t need color printing, select "Black & White" or "Grayscale".
  4. Click OK to save changes.

Check HP Smart App Settings

Since you reinstalled HP Smart, try adjusting settings from there:

  1. Open HP Smart and select your printer.
  2. Click on Print and choose a document.
  3. In the print settings, ensure:
    • Paper type is set to Plain Paper.
    • Quality is set to Normal or Draft, not Best or Photo.
  4. Print a test page.

Reinstall HP Printer Driver

Since you replaced the SSD, the driver might not be correctly installed. Try this:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e and select Remove Device.
  3. Download and install the latest driver from HP website.
  4. Restart your PC and reconnect the printer.

Reset Printer Settings

  1. On your printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore.
  2. Choose Restore Factory Defaults and confirm.
  3. Set up the printer again and test printing.

I hope this helps. And happy printing! 😊

Take care and have a good day.
