HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer

We just moved. WiFi is connected and functioning. I was able to connect printer to the WiFi and all looked good. Then the printer started "Validating... Please Wait". I have turned the printer off & on, disconnected the power and reconnected the power restarted the modem.  But am still in the "Validating... Please Wait". This has been going on for days. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi @BoiseBob,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 is stuck on “Validating… Please Wait” after moving and reconnecting to Wi-Fi. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power reset the printer

Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Wait at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and restart.

Disconnect network temporarily

Restart the printer with Wi-Fi disabled or disconnected.

This helps confirm if the validation loop is tied to the network connection.

Restore network defaults

On the printer’s control panel, go to Wireless Settings → Restore Network Defaults.

Reconnect to your Wi-Fi after the reset.

Update firmware manually

Download the latest firmware for the OfficeJet Pro 9020 from HP’s support site.

Connect the printer to your PC via USB and run the update installer.

Updating over USB avoids issues caused by the Wi-Fi validation loop.

Check ink cartridges

Remove and reseat all cartridges.

Sometimes cartridge communication errors can trigger the “Validating” message.

Perform a semi-full reset

With the printer off, press and hold # + 9 while turning it back on.

This clears memory and may bypass the stuck validation state.

Test startup without cartridges

Remove all cartridges and power on the printer.

If it reaches the home screen, reinstall cartridges one at a time to identify if one is causing the issue.

Reconnect to HP Smart app

Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.

Re-add the printer and check if it completes setup successfully.

I hope this helps.
