I have the HP OfficeJet Pro 9130e and the extender output paper tray is too small to allow printed legal paper to lay flat. How do I extend the output tray to allow the printed paper to lay flat? Paper is being scattered on my floor because the tray can’t hold enough paper. Thanks!

@rachiskrazy1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Output Tray on HP OfficeJet Pro 9130e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To ensure that your legal-size printed papers lay flat and do not scatter on the floor, you need to properly extend the output tray on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9130e. Follow these steps to adjust the tray:

Locate the Output Tray Extender:

  • Look for the extender at the end of the output tray. It is usually tucked in or folded at the back end of the tray.

Extend the Tray:

  • Gently pull out the tray extender. Extend it fully so that it can fully support the length of legal-size paper.

Secure the Tray:

  • Ensure the extended tray is stable. The extender should lock into place, providing a flat surface that keeps paper from spilling.

Adjust Paper Guides:

  • Check the paper guides on the tray. They should be adjusted to fit snugly against the edges of the legal-size paper without bending it.

Mind the Stack Height:

  • Make sure the height of the paper stack does not exceed the maximum limit marked on the edges of the tray. This will prevent paper overflow and scattering.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
