After upgrading to Windows 11, I am no longer able to print in color. It simply is not an option. I have uninstalled everything and tried reinstalling; first with Smart App, then just the full web driver for this product. I have rebooted in between uninstalling and reinstalling, cleared registry keys, yet nowhere in printer settings can I select color. It sees my color cartridge and prints color fine when running diagnostics or printer check. Adobe has color option, yet when I select print in color, it is still black and white. No office programs give an option to select color.\
Printer test page shows Color Support: Yes; Driver Name: HP OIfficeJet 4650 Series; Driver Type: Type 3 - User mode; Driver Version: 20.79.1.6594
downloaded and installed 4/20/24.

Hi @beraducci5,
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with printing in color on your printer.
A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
C) If the issue still persists, Make a copy on the printer standalone and let me know if you have the same issue. (Place an original document on the scanner glass and make a copy to confirm hardware is working fine)
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day

Hi @beraducci5,
I am sorry to hear that the above steps did not help much.
- May I know which application you are using to print?
- When was the last time your printer was working fine when printing color prints?
- Were there any changes made to your printer or software recently?
- May I know which devices are you using to print eg: Windows PC, Mac, or Smartphone (Android or iPhone)?
Note: Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
Take care and have a great day ahead!

It is a windows computer, upgraded to WIndows 11. It worked fine printing color before - I don't usually print in color for general printing. To be honest, I do not know when it stopped giving me the option to print in color. Please NOTE: printer testing prints in color just fine. it it not the cartridge with the issue. Somewhere along the line, something was updated and I no longer have the option to print in color. When I print anything MS, color is not an option to choose. When I print PDF, color is an option, but it does not print in color since the printer driver doesn't have color as an option on my computer. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the printer driver. I have loved this printer up until now.

Hi @beraducci5,
As you have already performed the step of uninstalling and reinstalling the full feature software that did not fix the issue.
Request you to click on this link to install the HP smart application to continue printing in color and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!
