Hello, after the weekend I got back to my printer and it says on the screen,
"Update Required, A Problem has occurred with one of the printer's critical system files. A printer update will be installed to fix this problem"
I have tried, unplugging and plugging back in. I have tried connecting to my pc via USB, I have tried updating the firmware while plugged into my pc (my pc cant even recognise it), and I have tried loading the firmware onto a USB stick and plugging it in and switching it on. Nothing has worked. I can't do anything/ get to anything on the printer, even if I lift the lid the cartridges don't even move. I can't think of anything else to do.
Please help, Thank you.

Hi @Mewdactol42,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I can understand how frustrating it must be to deal with an unresponsive printer, especially after trying so many troubleshooting steps. Let’s work together to resolve this.
- Have you tried a different USB cable or port to see if your PC can recognize the printer?
- Does the printer show any signs of activity, such as lights blinking or any noises from the mechanism when you attempt to update or power it on?
- Has the printer previously been connected to a network, or are you only trying to connect via USB?
Here are a few more troubleshooting steps to try:
- Perform a Hard Reset: Unplug the printer from both the power source and USB, then hold the power button for 15-30 seconds before plugging it back in.
- Check the Printer's Network Connection: If possible, try connecting the printer directly to your Wi-Fi and check if it can receive an update over the network.
- Firmware Recovery Mode: Some HP printers have a special recovery mode. Check your model's manual or HP support to see if you can manually force the firmware recovery process.
- Try a Different Computer: If your PC still doesn't recognize the printer, try using a different computer to see if it's an issue with the original PC.
- If none of the above steps work, it might be best to contact HP Phone Support directly for further assistance or potential repair options.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hello, I have tried all those solutions and none of those work. I have tried the printer on the wi-fi and the pc doesn't even think its on and with the USB cable, the pc doesn't recognise anything was plugged in. When I power it on it shows the boot up screen and then goes to the "Update Required" screen, the wi-fi light flashes and no other lights or noises.
