Received new laptop and new HP Officejet 250 all in one printer. I have the printer attached to the laptop via USB. I can print just fine, but I am unable to scan. I have tried to install the full driver install but it fails due to it being installed on 64 bit laptop. I originally had installed via wireless, and scanning worked fine using HP Smart app. But now via usb it does not. This setup is going to be used where wi-fi is not available , thus I need USB to work both for printing and scanning. I have purchased 11 of these, but will have to return them all if unable to get them to work.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
You can scan directly to a USB flash drive from the printer control panel without using a computer or the HP printer software provided with the printer.
- CAUTION: Do not remove the flash drive from the printer USB port while it is being accessed by the printer. This can damage the files on the USB flash drive. You can safely remove a USB flash drive only when the USB port light is not blinking.
- NOTE: ● The printer does not support encrypted USB flash drives. ● You can also use the HP printer software to scan documents into editable text. For more information, see Scanning documents as editable text.
To scan an original to a USB from the printer control panel
- 1. Load your original print-side down in the document feeder.
- 2. Insert a USB Flash drive.
- 3. Touch Scan, and then select USB.
- 4. Make changes to scan options, if needed.
- 5. Touch Start Scan.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
