Hi everyone,

I performed a semi-full reset through the service menu on my HP OfficeJet 3830. Now it shows the message “Install the cartridges that came with the printer” and do not let me use the cartridges I currently have. I discarded the original setup cartridges a long time ago. How can I bypass this requirement and complete the setup with the current cartridges?

I regret performing the semi-full reset, since I did not have this issue before. I also do not understand why HP imposes such restrictions on their printers.

Look for an option in the menu such as "trade at ob"

Thank you for your reply. "Trade at OOBE" option is not available in the Service menu.

The firmware number of the printer is SPP1FN2223AR

Hi @mrecoprint,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand you’re running into trouble with the Trade OOBE setup, and I’m really sorry to hear about the frustration you’re facing. It can feel incredibly draining when something that should be straightforward keeps getting stuck, almost like you’re pushing through a door that just won’t open. I know how disruptive that can be, and you shouldn’t have to struggle with it alone.

To get you further assistance, we need to take this conversation to a private chat. We're inviting you to a private message to protect your privacy and ensure that any sensitive information remains confidential.

To access your private message, just click the little blue envelope icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile name.

We're looking forward to helping you resolve this issue!

Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience!
