HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Hi there,

I upgraded my MacBook Pro 13" laptop to High Sierra (10.13.4).

I can not find the HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m - Full Feature Software ANYWHERE!!!!!

Currently my laptop prints (through the OS-HP driver), but I dont have the utility for the scanner or the supply-levels, etc!

What makes it worse is that I installed the HP Easy Scan (as recommended by HP), but it can not find the device!

Please help!

Thank you very much

Hi Shlomi,

Thank you very much for your reply and efforts!

I finally managed to get it to work!

I re-installed the drivers from the system (again), by adding the printer again,  now everything works!

It is a petty that there is no proper utility softwrae, I'm imagining myself buying a new printer, and with all the excitement of a new gadget, I get to discover that there is no utility forftare that is offered from the manufacturer that suits my computer!! and even the bits and peices that are offered (like the Easy Scan) are not easy to locate online. Big waste of time, big dissapointment!

But anyway, I'm glad that things are now working, and thanks again for your effeorts! 🙂

Hi,
From your Applications folder or its HP sub-folder delete any existing HP Scan or HP Easy Scan application, delete it by moving it to trash, then empty the trash.

Next install the latest HP Easy Scan below, it will be installed within the Applications folder:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_...

Finally, ensure your drivers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.

To find out the ink level open Printers & Scanners and double cick the printer.

Click on Settings and open the HP Utility within the Utility tab, there you should be able to find out the ink levels.

As well restart your computer and check if yo may now scan using HP Easy Scan.

Regards,
Shlomi

Hi Shlomi,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Unfortinately the solution did not work!

I followed your instuctions percisely, but with no luck. Still the HP Easy Scan can not see the scanner. Also supply levels give me a message that says "Information Not Available".

I really hope I can find the old software I was using, it just had everything, I'm talking about the "Utility Software" or "The Full Feature Software", not the drivers. It is impossible to find it on any of the "many" sites of HP!!!

Anything else I can do?

Thanks a lot again!

Hi @Agwa

A Full Feature Software is not available for High Sierra however such functionality is offered.

From your description it may happen due to any connectivity problem - is the printer connected via USB or through an ethernet cable to a router?
