Finally, a solution that works!!!  Why on earth can't HP  update their driver to fix this issue instead of so many people suffering????  Seriously, this is not right nor OK and [edit]  HP not delivering what they PROMISED---an all-in-one printer WITH COLOR!  I feel lied to by paying for a product that didn't deliver on its promise, just saying.

Add me to those who are grateful for this fix!!! I had done the uninstall method to no avail, so I was starting to lose hope.

It's odd that the driver built specifically for this device would lose some of the basic properties of the printer (color printing, automatic duplex), but now that I can print in color and do auto duplex on 8.5x11" paper again, I'm happy!!!

I have been trying and searching for a solution to this same problem as well and have been very frustrated until I found your comments here as this solved my issue!  Thank you very much!

Awesome!!! I was looking for solutions and until I found it here, I thought it was my printer, but it was the driver that didn't work well with the latest Windows 10 updates, for the next one they have to make that driver an update. I thought I had to buy another printer. Thanks for the solution. I am very happy about that.

Had this problem on brand new Windows 10 Dell and also on older Dell that I did clean install.  Did numerous hp software installs and uninstalls and installs on both machines.  Even tried the driver download link on hp site, which didn't work.

HP - GET A FULLY WORKING SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD ON YOUR WEBSITE.

"hp OJ4650_Full_WebPack_1122.exe"  is NFG  without this fix.

Welcome to HP support community.

After reinstalling the driver, did you update the printer firmware and change the settings?

If not, follow the below steps:

Update the printer firmware

Follow the steps mentioned in this HP document to update firmware:- Click here

Once you install the printer, change the bellow settings to print in color.

  1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer that you want to use, and then click Printing preferences.
  3. Make your choices, and then click OK.
  4. Under option Print color select color , then the OK button.

Let me know how it goes.

Same here.  This is getting frustrating.  I don't have the advance tab and my firmware is already up to date.
