Thank you very much. I have been running around in circles since I put my new computer into use. Today alone I spent 2 hours trying to find a solution. My printer now has its color printing back and also the duplex printing. What a bizarre work-around. I need a nap.

I guess your issue is different, because mine was only printing in black and white and even if you wanted to set up "color", when you got out of the setting parameter and then got back to check it, it had turned again to black and white.
I had no color at all.
Sorry

I have a new HP Pavilion All in one computer. My printer is a HP 4650. It doesn't consistently print in color from by PC. All other devices connected to my printer will print in color. I've tried everything. I reinstalled drivers a million times on the Pavilion. Color works for a while then stops working again. This is getting really annoying .....any suggestions.

Dear Andypoojam,
This is exactly the issue I had.
I have applied the solution given in message 2 on page 1 and it worked !!!!
I have done a copy and paste for you of the solution to apply.:
Adding an alternate driver may resolve the issue. Here is how to do it:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Control panel, click Devices and Printers
2.) In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your HP Officejet 4650 and left click on Printer Properties.
3.) Left click on the Advanced tab
4.) Left click on New Driver
5.) When the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
6.) Select HP as the Manufacturer on the left
7.) Select HP Envy 7640 as the printer on the right. If HP Envy 7640 doesn't appear than select 'Windows Update' on the bottom left and once the update completes you will be able to select HP Envy 4500.
8.) After selecting HP Envy 7640 hit next to complete the New Driver Wizard.
9.) Under the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OK
10.) Select the General tab
11.) Rename your printer back to HP Officejet 4650.
12.) Hit OK.
Good luck!

Thank you so much! I have been without color for so long and printing to a different printer in a different room. Then when that one went down completely, I had to figure out to fix this one. This worked! Just a couple notes:
this was a bit confusing as you need to select "HP Envy 7640" NOT HP Envy 4500 as listed.
Also on this, after I did the update, I had the HP Envy 7640 as a choice (wasn't there before!), but I also now had these 2 options of Hewlett Packard and Hewlett-Packard, but scrolled down a bit further to realize there is also the "HP" to pick, which is the correct one.
Thanks again for posting this help!
