Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Somehow my printer's destination setting went to Save as a PDF and I do not want to do that with anything I select to print.

I have tried to uninstall the printer so that I can reinstall, but the message is that the driver is not available.  I have tried installing the basic driver and that install always fails.

I have removed all traces of HP and plugins under apps and features.  I even ran a repair windows system files scan and that fixed a corrupt file of some kind.

I guess my only option at this point is to contact HP and pay for their service.

Hi @hpprinterpro

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing issues.

You can run a complete diagnostic check on the printer from the HP print and scan doctor app here, isolate the issue.

Once downloaded, open the tool, click on add printer on top and select your printer and click on fix printing option and follow the on screen instructions to complete the diagnostic test and resolve the same.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Life got busy so once again I tried all afternoon to try and fix the driver issue for my printer.

I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor several times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer several times.

I keep getting the same message.....Driver check issue not fixed.

Could it be my laptop? I cannot update to Windows 11.

One day the printer just switched to save to a PDF file.  I want to just be able to print documents and not save them.  I can do so from my Android phone.

Any suggestions, once again, is helpful.  I thank all of you for your support thus far.

ps...I have no idea why my username is HPPrinterPro.  I surely am not a printer pro!!!!! Can I change this username?
