Almost any OfficeJet can replace your printer -- the 6700 is old tech.
That said, the 6700 was a decent printer -- and new tech is also more complicated tech.
Printers are one of those things that "you get what you pay for".
If you miss just one "most wanted" feature on your list, and the printer you buy won't be the printer you expect.
What to do?
Decide how much you can afford to invest.
What?
The top-tier is about three to four hundred dollars.
There are always sales and this an excellent time to purchase a new printer for less than regular price.
Go to the HP Store -
Search for "HP OfficeJet Pro" printers.
Make a list of all the features on the very best printers of the type you want (OfficeJet Pro).
Compare the "best" to the feature list on the printer you can afford (or are willing to purchase).
Reminders
- Instant Ink is optional.
- Instant Ink is a legal contract separate from the purchase of the printer.
- Do not sign up for the Instant Ink Trial or Instant Ink service without understanding what you are getting.
- Do not count Instant Ink as an automatic benefit -- how and what you print impacts whether a service of this type is worth your time, effort, and the expense.

HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e Wireless All-in-One Printer
Scroll down the the Tech Notes.
Make a list.
Next, find a printer at the store that you like -
Compare what the "best" can do against the printer you choose.
Be Careful -- Do not assume a feature is included.
For example,
The OfficeJet Pro 9135e supports automatic 2-sided Scan options
The OfficeJet Pro 8135e does not support this feature
Can't decide?
Ask an HP store rep -- they are there to help you make the right purchase and not just to sell you "anything".
Not sure?
Look up the printer you want to buy at the printer's product home page --
Read the user manual.
Make sure the printer will do what you want done and how you what it done.
