Sandy,

I'm sorry to be such a pest, but that didn't work either.

I downloaded the driver, but that just brought up the same HP - Office jet J4680 series app that I already had, which fails to make the final connection.

I downloaded the HP Smart app ,but it doesn't see my printer via the network, even though the HP Print and Scan Doctor app and the HP - Office jet J4680 series app do.

Again, my basic question is, do I have to uninstall the printer as connected via USB to install it as being network connected ?

It seems with the HP Print and Scan Doctor app and the HP - Office jet J4680 series app they get all the way to final step of connecting and then fail.  They even print out an IP sheet, but don't make the final connection.

Can that be because it's already connected as a USB printer ?

Again sorry to be having such difficulty.

This might require remote access of the computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Cheers.
