Does anyone know if an HP Officejet J5780 All-in-One Printer series, will work using Windows 11 and if so, where I can get a driver. It's no longer available via HP site. Many thanks.

Hi @Cassandra17,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Officejet J5780 All-in-One Printer, part of the J5700 series, is an older model, and finding direct drivers for newer operating systems like Windows 11 can be challenging if HP has discontinued support. Here’s how you can proceed to try and get it working with Windows 11:
**1. Check for Basic Compatibility
- Windows 11 Compatibility:
- Older printers like the HP Officejet J5780 might not have dedicated drivers for Windows 11, but they may still work with generic drivers or in compatibility mode.
**2. Use Windows Update
- Windows Update:
- Connect your printer to the computer and let Windows try to automatically find and install a compatible driver.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates.
**3. Use Generic Printer Drivers
- Generic Drivers:
- Windows often includes generic drivers that can work with older printers. Try installing the printer using a generic HP driver.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners > Add a printer or scanner.
- Select The printer that I want isn't listed and choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
- Choose HP as the manufacturer and look for a compatible driver. If you can't find an exact match, try the closest available driver.
**4. Install Drivers in Compatibility Mode
- Compatibility Mode:
- If you have an older driver for Windows 7 or Windows 10, you might be able to use it by installing it in compatibility mode.
- Download the older driver from the HP Support page or other trusted sources.
- Right-click the driver setup file and select Properties.
- Go to the Compatibility tab, check Run this program in compatibility mode for, and select Windows 7 or Windows 10.
- Run the setup file and follow the installation instructions.
**5. Alternative Installation Methods
Manual Installation:
- Go to Device Manager (right-click Start and select Device Manager).
- Find your printer under Printers or Unknown Devices, right-click it, and select Update driver.
- Choose Browse my computer for drivers and locate the folder where you extracted the driver files.
HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- HP provides a utility called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can help diagnose and fix issues with printers.
- Download it from the HP website and run it to check for issues with your printer setup.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
