I had this same issue where I kept getting this error screen on the printer after a firmware update "A problem has occurred with one of the printer's critical system files.  A printer update will be installed to fix this problem."

All of these forum replies DID NOT help me whatsoever but I happened to find only ONE forum that fixed this issue for me.

Trust me, I tried EVERYTHING on like 20 different forums and this is the only one that fixed the issue for me. Just using a USB, formatting it to FAT32, turning off the printer, plugging in USB, & everything was fixed.

 

NOTE: This isn't a question, this is a SOLUTION to anybody else having this issue.
