My HP Officejet Pro 8500 refuses to work unless all ink cartridges have ink.

Is there a solution?

I only want to use it for scanning. Not printing.

Thanks!

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

HP printer is designed in such a way that cartridge should have ink to print.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Raj, you did not answer my question.

I said my scanner does not scan if the ink cartridges are out of ink.

I asked, is there a way to scan without having ink cartridges?

Obviously a printer won't work without ink cartridges.

@JoshuaKrom,

I am responding on behalf of @Raj1788as he is out for the day. It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

I would like to inform you that you can scan without the cartridges however, you can scan only through the printer software (Computer).

Hope that answers the question.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
