@The_Fossette

I have tried your suggestions but still no luck updating firmware.

HP support: why do you keep wasting everyone’s time and asking them to PM you for assistance.  At this point it’s clear this problem is not an isolated instance.  Would it not make more sense to either a) admit there is a problem of which you don’t have a fix for yet or b) tell us there never will be a fix or c) actually fix the problem.

Hi, I have the save problem with my printer 8600 Plus. It shows the following message if I try to update the firmware. I tried via LAN, WLAN, WLAN-Direct and USB. Everything failed.... (Hostname HPDFE9F9, Version CKP1CN1829AR (old), Status: nicht anwendbar

Please send us the solution, HP-Support!

Thanks! Flo6677

Same problem. On Windows machine it doesn't recognize printer. Using MacOS shows printer but says "This Firmware Updater does not contain upgrades for your device"

Very frustrating

HP have just demonstrated they are not interested...

I just received a private message that starts

"I reviewed the case relating to issues with the computer not charging and booting. " NOTHING to do with my question of course, probably a copy and paste from a previous support question . UNPROFESSIONAL

Then asks a few questions I have already answered multiple times before confirming my PC is connected to computer.

Then it suggests I read the instructions on how to Install the Firmware. AS IF I haven't done that many times.

I AM NOW convinced HP doesn't have a clue how to support customers (I used to work as IT support manager for major telecoms company) THIS NEEDS A Process Review as well as a FIX. Preferably This Year !

CAN SOMEONE, tell me how to escalate to someone in Hewlett Packard who can make things happen. I have taken Screenshots of my ludicrous replies I get and would like to post them onto Customer Care in HP.

I received a private message stating I need to contact HP support.   Problem is this product has been out of warranty for awhile and I do not need to pay for a firmware update that doesn’t work.  There is nothing wrong with my printer or the way I am trying to update the firmware.  The firmware update just doesn’t work.  It is the firmware that needs to be changed for the update to work.   This is not just my issue it is the same issue that everyone else here is having.

@Betty610 @HP Support it's been a week since the PM where I furnished details with no reply.  Can you please let me know how the escalation is going?  This issue seems to be clearly outside the standard support call script and impacting a range of users across multiple geos.  Can you please confirm that this issue has been raised as a software defect with the engineering team who wrote the update?  The issue, as many have pointed out on here, is not their physical printer.

If HP can't resolve such basic issues with their software releases soon I think the posters on this topic will start voicing their concerns via twitter, facebook and other outlets.

Thanks.
