Hi there,
HP Officejet Pro 8600.exe does not run on windows 10. It was running normally on Windows 8.1.
I can print and scan normally via HP Smart. But I need to use the printer's dedicated software.
Please, this issue is widely complaint about in the community without any working response from your side.
Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your reply and the attempt to help.
I troubleshooted the issue and it turned out that for unknown reasons the mshta.exe was rstericted under windows registry. I deleted this restoration and the application worked well.
What's really annoying me is that after each restart the mshta.exe get restricted again and I have to delete it every restart!
I don't think it's a malicious or malware as I have Norton activated and licensed on my PC.
Maybe windows 10 restricts it by default along with powershell file too. Will try to figure it out.
Thanks and I hope this thread will be a guide for other users who are experienceing same issue with windows 10.

I am using Windows 7 (64 bit) and have a similar problem. Even trying the original driver on the CD that came with the printer, the setup message states that the connection cannot be found. However, the HP Officejet Pro 8600 is listed in my laptops Devices & Printers. I even switched from the USB cable (directly plugged into the laptop) to an Ethernet cable plugged into my Netgear router.
