I can't print color anymore. Not sure what or when this happened. I have performed all of the maintenance suggested for the printer. The color ink cartridges have ink in them. The diagnostics for the printer say everything is fine, but when I print the test pages the color levels do not show in color, Test pattern 3 they are only in shades of gray, no color. As far as software or driver changes our HP computer does it automatically.

Hi @BettyG57,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are unable to print in color from your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer
.
This issue could occur if the printhead is not aligned properly or expired or print in black only is selected in the drivers.
Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.
1. In your software application, click Print.
2. Select your printer from the list of available printers.
3. Click the option that opens the Printer Properties dialog box.
Note: Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer Properties, Printer, or Preferences.
4. On the Properties window, click the Paper/Quality or Features tab, depending on your software.
5. Click Advanced, click Print in Grayscale, and then de-select Print in Grayscale or High-Quality Grayscale.
6. Click OK to complete the change.
If the issue persists, then you may follow the link: Color or Black Ink Not Printing
Let me know how this works.
You have a good day ahead.

Hi Rainbow23
I had previously performd all the suggestions in the "Color & Black Ink Not Printing" including aligning printheads.
I now have done the steps you suggested for printer properties in the drivers.
The only thing left is................the color printheads are expired. I removed one of the color printheads and now see that the warranty date shows as 2017/04.
- Could it really be that these color printheads that are HALF Full have expired and don't work???? I am extremely sad if this is the case since they are very expensive, which is why we don't use color that often.
- Does the printer detect this from scanning the printheads when installed and then tell the machine not to print a color after that date??
- If that is the case is there somewhere in the printer window I should have went to see this information without having to pull an installed printhead out? (I personally worry about doing that because if we don't get it back in correctly by mistake then it will leak or be damaged. Then a new one would have to be purchased or worst the machine fixed because of ink leaking all over.)
- Can you confirm that since it was 2017/05 the printheads with warranty end date of 2017/04 would stop working??
I don't want to go and buy new ones if I don't have to.
