Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I too need these reset instructions.  Someone put an admin password on the printer, and we need to wipe that password away in order to get the printer on WiFI, set up scanning, etc.    The model is Officejet Pro 9010.

Thanks.

Hi @Jaidan2010,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To perform a factory reset on your HP Officejet Pro 9010 and clear the admin password, you can follow these steps.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Ensure that the printer is powered on and connected to your network.
  • Find the printer's IP address by printing a network configuration page. You can usually do this by navigating through the printer's menu to find the network settings option.
  • Once you have the IP address, open a web browser on a computer or mobile device connected to the same network.
  • Enter the printer's IP address in the browser's address bar and press Enter.

Log in to the Embedded Web Server:

  • You may be prompted to enter a username and password. The default username is usually "admin" and the default password is "admin" or "password". If these credentials don't work, you may need to refer to your printer's manual or contact HP support to obtain the correct credentials.

Navigate to the Reset Options:

  • Once logged in, navigate through the EWS menu to find the reset options. This may be located under settings or administration tabs, depending on the printer's firmware version.

Perform Factory Reset:

  • Look for the factory reset option. It may be labeled as "Restore Defaults" or "Factory Reset". Select this option.

Confirm Reset:

  • Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm that you want to perform the factory reset. Note that this action will clear all settings, including the admin password, and revert the printer to its factory defaults.

Wait for Reset to Complete:

  • The printer will undergo the reset process, which may take a few minutes. Once completed, the printer should restart automatically.

Reconfigure Printer:

  • After the reset, you'll need to set up the printer again, including connecting it to your Wi-Fi network and configuring any other settings as needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
