Will HP be reactivating the credentials with Apple for the printer driver for the HP Officejet Pro K5400 printer?
I understand that HP revoked the credentials of many HP printer drivers with the Mac OS Catalina 10.15 software update. My printer worked perfectly before the OS update. As a work-around, I deleted and then added the printer using the Generic PCL Laser Printer driver. However, that does not provide access to the printer-specific features. While I can delete and add the HP printer driver (available and downloads from Apple), I then get all the "malware" messages about components damaging my computer. These are the same messages that identified the issue after the Catalina OS update.
I am disappointed that this has affected so many people, and caused great concern over malware on my PC. It doesn't make sense to have a perfectly good printer that I cannot use as I once did, just because HP revoked the credentials in an Apple OS update.
Will HP be reinstating the credentials for all HP printers, including mine?
Thank you!

Hi,
The drivers are fully functional and were corrected within several days...
Please make sure your macOS is fully up to date with the latest 10.15.7 update.
Next, follow below steps to fully remove any existing driver using the HP Uninstaller:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06960563
Once the uninstall completes, download and reinstall the latest drivers below:
Finally, from System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, click the plus sign and select your printer, be sure to select your printer model within the Use drop-down menu and press on Add, then try printing.

Hello ShlomiL!
Thank you! That worked!
I have tried most of those same steps before, several times, with no luck. The difference in your solution is the drivers that you provided. When I tried to add the printer, it wanted to download the driver from Apple. There was not a driver available for my printer on the HP site, so that was my only choice. Apparently, the driver updates have not been made at Apple? Using the drivers you provided, it did not download from Apple (screenshots below).
Either way, I am thrilled to have my printer fully functional again.
Thanks so much!!
