Hi @SueF1,

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case relating to issues with the computer not charging and booting. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.

  • Are you able to print from the printer?
  • Are you able to copy directly from the printer?
  • Did you attempt to perform printer firmware update directly from the printer?

  • If you are able to copy directly from the printer without any communication from the computer and are able to print from the computer and are looking only for a firmware upgrade link I will include it for you.
  • Link: for firmware upgrade: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8600-e-all-in-one-printer-series-n...  Please select the correct operating system before doing it.

  • This link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16 shows you how to update the firmware. Please follow the steps mentioned. It is useful.

This response does not remotely answer the question.  The problem was will a link to a software update.   What does that have to do with I can actually print or not.
