I have an HP PSC 1410 that has always printed successfully from my MacBook Air (Sierra) until now.
The message is "waiting for printer to become available" but it never does.
I've done a hard reset on the printer.
I've also deleted the printer and "reset printing system" on my Mac.
I've also let printer power down for 30 minutes and I've tried using both USB ports on my Mac.
None of the above has made any difference.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to print from your Mac computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you follow the steps in the below article to run a system test on the computer to make sure that there are hardware issues.
HP PSC 1410 driver for macOS 10.12 are not available from the HP website or Apple Software Update. However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.
NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.
I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!
