HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dn bricked by latest FW update 9/29/2023. Network cable plugged in and the touch screen goes dead after the printer initializes. 2023 has been a great year for HP bricking printers via updates.

These are the instructions I posted in another thread on one method to resolve the problem.
Based on what I am seeing on these boards here are some steps to try:
1. Turn off wireless and disconnect any ethernet cable from the printer. In some cases you may need to temporarily disable your wireless router to test this.
2. Power the unit on. Many posts here state that they were able to get the printer to ready with networking disconnected. If the printer comes to ready then you will likely be able to resolve this.
3. download the firmware update utility for your printer from support.hp.com. Version needs to be 2313A or older
4. Using a program called 7-Zip, extract the .ful2 file from the file you downloaded and copy to a USB Pen drive.
5. Insert that pen drive into the USB slot by the control panel. A USB icon should appear on the control panel. Touch it and there should be an option "upgrade detected". It can take up to ten minutes for the printer to realize the upgrade is there so be patient. Once you see the icon, touch it and the firmware downgrade will be applied.
6. When unit starts back up, turn off automatic updates so the problem firmware is not reapplied.

Download the firmware update utility from support.hp.com. Then you use 7zip to open that update file and extract the .ful2 file in it to a usb stick.

Thanks, it was the changing of the .exe to .zip, then using the 7-zip app to access it that was very confusing. This means you need a PC to do this - not a Mac!
Eventually worked using the instructions I posted earlier. Accessing the Blue screen with the secret Home /Back/Home/Home button combination - then forcing the firmware re-installation.
Crazy. They really should have issued a proper fix for this.
This was the solution that worked for me:

You do not need to rename the file. Once you have 7zip installed, you right click the file and select 7zip and then open archive

Thank you, I was looking for "how to downgrade" to previous version.
Since september I was with a printer without network to keep it working.
I saw that only Microsoft Windows computer affected the printer. It was working fine without Microsoft computer on the network.
