HP Photosmart 6510 e-All-in-One Printer - B211a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I recently restarted my PC after using typical procedures to uninstall 3 software programs related to the HP Photosmart 6510 e-All-in-One Printer – B211a (Product number CQ761A), a RunDLL error message would appear on my desktop after I signed in. “There was a problem starting C:\Program Files\HP\HP Photosmart 6510 series\bin\HPStatusBL.dll The specified module could not be found. <’OK’ button>” is what the message would say. This would appear each time I signed in. The specific programs I uninstalled are HP Photosmart 6510 series Basic Device Software (Version 28.0.1315.0), HP Photosmart 6510 series Help (Version 140.0.2.2), and HP Photosmart 6510 series Product Improvement Study (Version 28.0.1315.0). It would probably be worth mentioning that I did not restart my computer until after I uninstalled all 3 programs. As a result, I don’t specifically know which uninstall procedure caused the message to appear.

Due to this error, I performed a System Restore. Although doing so reinstalled the software, I no longer get any error messages. I DO NOT HAVE THE PRINTER ANYMORE, but I do have the original installation disc that came with it (which has Windows version 24.2.0 of the necessary software). (I have an HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC (Product number G0T55AV) with Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit (Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.228)).

How do I uninstall the software without getting error messages or resetting my entire PC (the latter of which is found via Start menu > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > <”Get started”>)?

@masteryoda1041,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it Great deductions and terrific diagnosis of the issue. It is amply appreciated.

Let me gather some information for better clarity to assist you correctly:

  • Did you try a root level uninstallation?

Meanwhile, I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:

Perform a root level uninstallation of the printer drivers by following these steps:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, in the control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

This should resolve the issue.

 Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

@DavidSMP,

Thanks for responding!

First of all, to answer your question about if I tried a root level uninstallation, no, I do not think I did. I just went to Control Panel > Programs > Progams and Features > (Highlighted each program individually) > (Clicked "Uninstall," followed prompts, then restarted my computer).

With regard to the "Click on print server properties" and "You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab...if any" steps you mentioned, when I click "Remove...," should I choose "Remove driver only" or "Remove driver and driver package?"

@masteryoda1041,

I reviewed the post. Thanks for the screenshot and the quick response. It is awesome to hear from you again and your splendid commitment and excellent efforts are amply appreciated. If you plan to delete the printer completely, then delete every instance of the printer found. Virtually everything. This should resolve the issue.

If this helps, to simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

@DavidSMP,

Thanks for the reply. As per the information you told me, upon attempted removal of the "HP ePrint" driver, I received a message that said "Driver HP ePrint was removed. Failed to remove package hpbje1301xps.inf. Access is denied." I will click the <OK button> (because I have no other choice) and see what happens. If nothing happens (that will prevent me from performing other steps), I will proceed as planned and report back.

I created a System Restore point two days ago. If worst comes to worst, I'll perform a System Restore and the software will be re-installed. (I'm REALLY hoping it doesn't come to that; I've found the restore process to take over one hour.)

@DavidSMP,

Attempting to remove the “HP Photosmart 6510 series” driver gave me the following message: “The following package(s) can not be deleted:

hpvpl09.inf (x64)

This package contains the following driver(s) that are in use:

HP Photosmart 6510 series; This driver is used on:

   HP Photosmart 6510 series

The following driver(s) can not be deleted:

Driver HP Photosmart 6510 series (x64) is in use. It is used on:

    HP Photosmart 6510 series”

Attempting to remove the “HP Photosmart 6510 series Class Driver” gave me the following message: “Driver HP PCL3 A-size Printer Class Driver was removed.

Driver HP Photosmart 6510 series Class Driver was removed.

Failed to remove package prnhpcl1.inf. Access is denied.”

I should mention that at no point did I attempt to remove either the “HP Officejet Pro 6830” or “HP PCL3 A-size Printer Class Driver.” (Although, now that I’ve attempted removal of the other drivers, “HP Officejet Pro 6830” and “HP Photosmart 6510 series” are the only ones still listed.)

@masteryoda1041,

I am responding on behalf of @DavidSMP as he is out for the day. It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

I recommend you follow the below steps in the same order and check whether the issue is resolved.

·         Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.

·         Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.

·         Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.

·         Go to services again - Start the print spooler.

·         Now check for issue resolution.

·         If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:

·         First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

·         Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.

·         Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

·         Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

·         Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

·         Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

·         Restart your computer.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
