I have a HP Photosmart C4100 all in one and got a new ASIS VIVObook but on the HP Support Assistant states Driver is not available. Is there a site or link can go directly to find drivers and download manually?
I have seen other posts where @ferRX provided the link. @ferRX will you be so kind and provide it again to see if it works for me? Thanks in advance

Hi @bbermejo90,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Your HP Photosmart C4180 is an older model, and unfortunately, full, model-specific drivers are no longer available from HP for newer versions of Windows. That’s why HP Support Assistant reports that a driver isn’t available; it’s not an error, it’s simply that this printer is now retired from active driver support.
However, you can still print with this printer using a more generic driver supplied by Microsoft:
How to Get It Working Without Dedicated HP Drivers
Option 1: Use Built-In Windows Drivers
Windows has a generic “HP Photosmart C4180” or “HP Inkjet” driver that can often work:
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners
- Click Add device
- Select your printer from the list
- If Windows doesn’t find a driver automatically, choose The printer that I want isn’t listed
- Choose Add a local printer
- Use existing port (USB001) or similar
- In the driver list, look for:
- HP Photosmart C4000 Series
- HP Universal Print Driver (UPD)
- Install and test printing
This method uses generic drivers built into Windows, which can provide basic printing functionality.

Option 2: HP Universal Print Driver (UPD)
There is a generic HP Universal Print Driver that supports many older HP inkjet and laser printers. While it does not enable all features (like scanning), it often gets printing working.
You can download it here:
👉 HP Universal Print Driver Series for Windows Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
Choose the UPD for Windows (PCL6 or PS) and run the installer. Then add the printer as above.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
