Is there going to be a new driver for maOS 10.12 Sierra? The latest version on the HP website for my printer (Photosmart C5180) is OS 10.11. Printing works fine but it does nothing on the scan screen. I've seen messages about other HP printers not working with Sierra too.
Thank you.

After countless hours struggling with this same issue, I removed the printer from the system (in System Preferences/Printers and Scanners), physically turned it off, turned off the iMac, removed the ethernet connection to the hub, replaced with a USB cable from the C5180 directly to the iMac, turned on the printer, turned on the iMac, and OMG, it set itself up --- within seconds there it was with SCAN option displayed and working. UNBELIEVABLE - Apparently the Sierra drivers DO support scanning, but NOT via network/ethernet connections, only through direct USB connection. You'd think somone at HP or Apple might have thought to mention this...
Hope this helps!

As I understand you are unable to scan on Photosmart C5180 with MacOS 10.12 Sierra.
There is no driver update for MacOS 10.12 Sierra as of now.
But you can try installing HP Easy Scan for scanning from Mac.

Thanks David. It turns out I did the same thing but I left the ethernet connection for all the other devices we have for printing. I connected my MacBook to the USB cable and was also so happy to be able to scan. Still hoping for a wireless scanning ability since my iMac is on the other side of the room from the printer.
I also found that when I took my laptop off the USB, so I could move it to another location, and wanted to print I needed to go through the delete and install the printer again.
P.S. I actually did find that same solution online (didn't come up with the solution myself) but don't remember who posted it, maybe it was you in another location but it took me many searches over a number of days to find it. Then I was so happy to find that I actually had the right USB cable in the house. I was so frustrated I was ready to buy another printer.
