Hi
We have been using a HP Photosmart Plus All-in-one B209a-m scanner for last few years. Its been working exceptionally well for all these years.
Recently I noticed that in the device manager there was an explnation mark (!) next to this device and then I thought of updating the driver. After running the "PS_AIO_06_B209a-m_140_408-5.exe" file which was downloaded from this printer's support page, I updated the printer driver. Then I started gettting following error while scanning the documents.
Error Screen shot
So I uninstalled the driver, rebooted the PC and reinstalled the driver again. However I am still getting the same error message. Can you guide me in resolving this error.

Hi MrRobot:
Finally we succeded in installation of the software on the said PC. It appears that the window components were damaged and to re-install those damaged components after initial commnds, we used following commands:
DISM /Online /CleanupImage /RestoreHealth /Source:repairSource\install.wim
With the above, the corrupted files were replaced and without re-installation of the OS, all the issues were solved :).
Thank you very much for your consistant support and help during whole of this process, without which we could not have got this solution _/\_

Hey there! @csjoshi, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand you have issues scanning from your printer.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Are you able to make a copy from your printer?
Have you tried scanning from a different application?
As you mentioned when you try to scan from your printer you are getting error HP imaging device not found error on your PC.
Try the steps recommended below.
Try restarting Windows Image Acquisition services on your PC and check if it helps.
Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) is a service in the Windows operating system that supports communication between the computer and scanners. If WIA is not activated, scan jobs can fail.
1.Search Windows for view local services, and then click the View local services Control panel setting in the list of results.
The Services window opens.
2.Find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) in the Name column and look at the Status and Startup type values.
•, WIA is running correctly. Skip to the next step.
•, right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), click Properties, click the General tab, click Start under the Service status, and then select Automatic from the Startup type dropdown menu.
note:
If you cannot start WIA, make sure the following services are also Started and set as the Automatic startup type.
•Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
•Shell Hardware Detection
•RPC Endpoint Mapper
•DCOM Server Process Launcher

Uninstall the printer software from root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software on your PC and check if it helps.
In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.
Install the full feature printer software using this link.
If the issue still persists try using HP scan and capture app on your PC and check if it helps.

Hi MrRobot
I did what you mentioned in your post. After the installation using Revo installer, I ran SFC and DISM commands to make sure that the machine is up-to-date in terms of the windows components.
After that I tried to install the printer. Now the software is getting installed but not getting connected with the printer either using USB / in wireless mode. Is this issue related to .Net 4.5 (i. e. the installation software using librabries of .Net fraework)? Because this machine has .Net 4.5 installed on it and the installation package is developed in 2014 when I think .Net 3.5 was in practice.
Still no solution to the issue.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Try the steps recommended below.
Install the printer by adding a new TCP/IP port
Use the Devices and Printers app in Windows to install the printer by adding a new TCP/IP port.
Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
Search Windows for devices and printers, and then select Devices and Printers from the list of results.
Click Add a printer.
If necessary, click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.
Click The printer that I want isn't listed.
Select Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname, and then click Next.
Select TCP/IP Device in the Device type drop-down menu.
Type the printer IP address in the Hostname or IP address box. For more information about obtaining the IP address, see the documentation that came with your printer.
Deselect the Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use box, and then click Next.
The computer detects the TCP/IP port.
On the Install the printer driver window, click Windows Update.
After the update completes, select HP in the Manufacturer list, select your printer in the Printers list, and then click Next.

Hi:
After lots of research, finally I could understand the issue. It is related to a service named as "HPSLPSVC". It is supposed to be having a start-up type as "Automatic (Delayed start)". But its not running on the computer. So if I manually start running it I get following error. I searched on the net to resolve this issue. However I could not find any solution for it.
Is there any solution for it?

As you mentioned you are getting error 126 on your PC.
Did you try using HP scan and capture app are you having issues scanning?
If you have issue scanning from HP scan and capture app. It sounds like an operating system issue.
Try installing the printer on a different PC and check if the issue persists. If the issue does not persist try reinstalling the operating system on the original PC.
Also, you can try the steps recommended below.
Try the steps recommended below.

MrRobot:
Thanks a lot for your reply. I used HP support assistance and it it points to Print and Scan doctor, which could not resolve my issue. Through webservices (or browser based front end), I would could scan a page, but not using HP Solution Manager. However this is working perfectly fine on another PC.
So it looks to me that re-installing the OS is the only solution. Thank you very much for your efforts in helping me to resolve this issue
