This is a WI-FI connected printer. Went through setup through the printer window to get on in-house network. Then went to settings and added the printer once Windows found it. Windows says it is ready. HP Smart says Printer Status Unknown. Rebooted PC, deleted printer, re-did the entire aforementioned and still same status from HP Smart. Any help is appreciated.

I understand you are not able to print using the HP Smart app. According to this document, this model printer is not compatible with the HP Smart app.
Click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.
Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
Try printing.
