I have a HP 6980 series printer which is connected wirelessly to my desktop Windows 10 Dell PC. I have the HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.1 installed on my desktop. This utility does work in most instanstace except for the tab printer services. Printer/Printer Services which has four items: (Align Printheads, Clean Printheads, Print Quality Diagnostics Page and Print Diagnostic Information) all of which none work. I was attempting clean printheads which doesn't work. Question: does this software work with the 6980? All other tabs of the utility do seem to work, so is it just the printer services section?
Also, the ink supply level show nothing for my black ink although it still prints fine. What does that mean?, will it not work soon.

This printer series was introduced late 2008.
The Doctor is at a disadvantage with this printer. It cannot see / run the tools because the basic infrastructure is missing that controls the toolset.
There is not Full Feature Software for Windows 10. (In fact, the last Full Feature Software was for Vista 32bit.)
This means you are dependent on Windows Drivers to operate your printer.
HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
Windows Drivers provide for basic print tasks.
Windows Drivers do not provide fully functional print software and tools found in the Full Feature Software.

HP Deskjet 6980 Printer series
If you can find anything to help, it will be in the User Guide.
If you are going to keep this printer, I strongly suggest you download any documents that are of interest to you. At some point, HP retires old tech, usually at ten years for consumer grade devices. Everything might disappear without warning.
