Welcome to the HP Community --

If you've not yet done so,

Try / Consider

Uninstall printer software > Restart computer > Install fresh copy of the Full Feature Software

Driver download page:

What?
The printer has never supported automatic 2-sided scanning.
That said, the HP Scan Software included in the full driver printer software should still provide a manual software option for scanning on two sides > Page Sides = 2-sided (Manual)

Example - HP Scan (full driver software) - Menu > Destination
9025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_More_Destination_99025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_More_Destination_9
