Hi @Terri93 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting error 0x800f020b when trying to install HP Printer 20.79.1.6692 via Windows Update is often associated with issues in updating drivers, particularly for HP printers. To resolve and avoid this error, here are several steps you can try:

1. Manually Install the Printer Driver

Instead of relying on Windows Update to install the printer driver, you can manually download and install it:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Search for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e printer model.
  • Download the latest driver for Windows 11.
  • Install the driver manually by running the downloaded file and following the on-screen instructions.

2. Use the HP Smart App for Setup

  • If you haven’t already, try using the HP Smart app to install the printer driver. It’s an easy way to ensure the printer gets set up correctly, including the latest drivers.
  • Download it from the Microsoft Store if you don’t have it yet and follow the setup instructions.

3. Uninstall and Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer, click Remove Device, and confirm.
  • Then, go to Device Manager > Print queues, and uninstall any leftover printer drivers.
  • Afterward, reinstall the printer using the method described in step 1 or by running the HP Smart app.

4. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter to check for any system-related issues that may be causing the driver update error.

5. . Clear the Print Spooler

Sometimes, print jobs in the queue can block updates:

  • Open Services (search for "services.msc" in the Start menu).
  • Find and right-click Print Spooler, then select Stop.
  • Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete any files inside this folder.
  • Return to Services, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.

6. Check for Pending Windows Updates

  • Sometimes, Windows Update may not install drivers correctly due to other pending updates. Ensure all your system updates are completed before trying again:
    • Open Settings > Windows Update, then click Check for Updates.
    • Install all available updates and restart your PC.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
