There is an update (HP - Printer - 20.79.1.6692) that keep on failing to install. What can I do to remove it or get it to install? I have an HP Officejet Pro 9010 series printer.

If the HP Printer update (20.79.1.6692) is failing to install on your Windows 10 computer, here are steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check for Windows Updates

  1. Ensure Windows is Updated:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Click Check for updates to make sure your system is fully updated. Sometimes, updating Windows can resolve compatibility issues with drivers.

Step 2: Manually Install the Update

Download the Latest Printer Driver:

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer.Download the latest driver and software package for your printer.

Install the Driver Manually:

  • Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Step 3: Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer Driver

Uninstall the Printer Driver:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer and click Remove device.
  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on the printer and select Remove device if it still appears there.

Reinstall the Printer Driver:

  • Reboot your computer.Download and install the latest printer driver from the HP Support website.

Step 4: Use Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Run the Printer Troubleshooter:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
    • Click on Additional troubleshooters and select Printer.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

Step 5: Clear Windows Update Cache

Stop Windows Update Service:

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.Type net stop wuauserv and press Enter.
  • Type net stop cryptSvc and press Enter.Type net stop bits and press Enter.Type net stop msiserver and press Enter.

Clear Update Cache:

  • Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete all the files in this folder.

Restart Windows Update Service:

  • Go back to Command Prompt and type net start wuauserv and press Enter.Type net start cryptSvc and press Enter.Type net start bits and press Enter.Type net start msiserver and press Enter.

Check for Updates Again:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates.

Step 6: Check for Compatibility Issues

  1. Compatibility Settings:
    • Right-click on the installer file and select Properties.Go to the Compatibility tab and try running the installer in compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows.

Step 7: Remove the Update

  1. Uninstall the Update:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history.Click on Uninstall updates and find the update in the list. Select it and click Uninstall.
