HP Printer stopped working when Windows 11 or HP Smart has an update (Job keeps on spooling).  Switching to Chrome does not have any problem!

Hi @Donho1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Printer 8130e is experiencing spooling issues after a Windows 11 update or an update to the HP App. Here are a few steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Check Printer Spooler Service:

  • Press Win + R on your keyboard, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • In the Services window, scroll down and find "Print Spooler."
  • Right-click "Print Spooler," and select "Restart."
  • Try printing again to see if the issue has been resolved.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Search for Device Manager in Windows search and open it.
  • Expand the "Printers" section to find your HP Printer.
  • Right-click your printer and select "Update driver" to check for updates online.

Verify Default Printer:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Make sure your HP 8130e is set as the default printer.

HP App and Firmware Updates:

Ensure that both the HP App and the printer firmware are up-to-date. You can do this by opening the HP app, selecting your printer, and checking for firmware updates.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select your HP printer, and click "Open queue."
  • Right-click in the print queue window and select "Cancel All Documents" to clear any stuck print jobs.

Reinstall Printer:

  • If the problem persists, try removing and then re-adding your printer.
  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select your HP printer, and click "Remove device."
  • Restart your computer, then add the printer again using the "Add a printer or scanner" option.

Chrome Browser:

  • Since switching to Chrome resolves the issue, consider setting your default browser to Chrome while further diagnostics are performed for Windows 11 or explore support for any problematic plugins or settings within other applications.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
